Government Advice for Public Transport Drivers
Our Commitment to Support You
To ensure your ongoing health and well-being and the one of your drivers and passengers, we highly recommend you should undertake sanitisation measures in your taxi(s) for the foreseeable future.
Sanitisation will include a thorough wipe down of all the hard services inside the vehicle including the:
Dashboard. Door handles – inside and out.
Window controls.
Seatbelts and seatbelt buckles.
Cabcharge equipment (FAREWAYplus metering device, EFTPOS PINpad and Printer).
Steering wheel and console.
Your Commitment to Safety
In line with government advice, you should employ standard cleaning practices at the end of each shift and after each Passenger disembarks as part of good hygiene practice. We ask that you wipe down surfaces with disinfectant wipes.
If you are unable to find disinfectant wipes in the shops, a good alternative is to use household disinfectant.
In the event of a Passenger spreading droplets (such as sneezing, coughing or vomiting), clean surfaces with appropriate disinfectant wipes so that the potential spread of infection can be minimised.
Symptoms Symptoms can range from mild illness to pneumonia. Some people will recover easily, and others may get very sick very quickly. People with COVID-19 may experience:
Fever. Flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue. Shortness of breath.
The advice from government and world health organisations still remains that the best infection control measures against COVID-19 are regular hand washing and covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Up to Date Information on COVID-19 Call the Corona virus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080 if you are seeking information on COVID-19. The line operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
